Meta disclosed in its third-quarter earnings report that it will issue a new class of non-voting shares to finance its artificial intelligence initiatives. The company stated that these instruments will also support potential acquisitions and employee compensation, with trading scheduled to begin in 2027.

In a press release accompanying the results, Meta described the scale of investment needed to compete, sustain growth, and expand infrastructure during the industry's AI transformation as significant. Susan Li, the company's chief financial officer, elaborated on the strategy during an earnings call, noting that the new share class will expand Meta's funding tools.
