Josh Duhamel lists Encino home at $2.9 million as Minnesota off-grid move takes hold

A $2.9 million listing in Encino puts actor Josh Duhamel's San Fernando Valley property in focus, roughly a year after he relocated his family to an off-grid homestead in Minnesota. The 53-year-old is selling through listing agent Thomas Atamian of Coldwell Banker Realty in La Canada Flintridge. The next milestone is a purchase agreement on the four-bedroom, 3,310-square-foot residence.

Built in 1962 and spanning 3,310 square feet, the home carries four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountainside from most angles. The common areas center on a great room with high ceilings that opens directly into a chef's kitchen with a large center island. The renovated primary suite includes two walk-in closets and a private ensuite bathroom.

Outside, the layout includes a swimming pool, a firepit, a built-in barbeque, and multiple dining and lounging areas. Atamian called the home's positioning the defining feature. "It captures breathtaking jetliner and mountain views from almost every angle," he said in a statement, describing it as "rare to find a property that flawlessly combines dramatic architecture, modern updates and total privacy."

Behind the listing

Duhamel told Parade that his family moved to a property in Minnesota he spent 15 years building, the nearest store sitting 40 miles out. He relocated with his wife, Audra Mari, and their son Shepherd, who is 2. His 12-year-old son Axl, whom he shares with former wife Fergie, joins the family there periodically. The couple welcomed a daughter, Rocca, in May.

Duhamel's stated motivation is legacy. The Minnesota lifestyle, he told Parade, gets his older son away from screens and into the outdoors, an experience he wants to pass on to his children.

In an August 2025 interview with People magazine, he described the Minnesota property as his "doomsday cabin" and placed himself at "Probably 70%" prepared for an apocalyptic scenario, flagging gaps in hunting, fishing, and food stockpiling.
