Lindsay Powell, who releases music under the name Fielded, has built a career on subverting genre conventions. According to her Bandcamp page, the project began as an experimental noise endeavor before evolving into a sound closer to R&B. Powell's approach to the genre has remained restless from the start, continuously challenging what R&B entails. Her debut album, Ninety-Thirty-Thirty, features tracks heavily indebted to 1980s synth-pop and includes multiple saxophone solos. The record Boy Angel offers a quirky electronic exploration characterized by large saw-wave synths, jittery percussion, and high vocal stacks. In 2020, she released Demisexual Lovelace.
