Ben Francis, the 34-year-old founder of fitness apparel brand Gymshark, is in talks to repurchase a stake currently held by growth equity firm General Atlantic, according to reports.
The move would tighten Francis's grip on the business following what has been described as a rocky period for the company.
Founder Moves to Consolidate Control Francis built Gymshark from a garage operation into one of the United Kingdom's most prominent fitness brands before bringing in General Atlantic as an institutional backer.
Now, according to the reports, he is actively seeking to reverse part of that capital structure — buying back the private equity firm's position rather than ceding further ground to outside investors.
