Dave Sirmon, bass guitarist for country singer Mark Chesnutt, died in his sleep on the tour bus Saturday night.
Chesnutt, 62 and currently on the road, confirmed the loss Monday on Instagram, calling Sirmon his "buddy" and a musician he depended on for far more than playing bass.
Sirmon's wife, Louise, posted the confirmation on her husband's Facebook page a day earlier.
