A new survey from TrustedAir puts a number on a demand gap that health-product retailers have talked around for years: 72% of Americans do not know that air purifiers can be purchased with pre-tax health savings account or flexible spending account funds.
The finding holds even among people who already hold HSA or FSA accounts. TrustedAir, the Sarasota, Florida company behind the TrustedAir TruFlow air purifier, released the research on July 9, 2026.
The numbers Three-quarters of respondents said they would be more likely to buy an air purifier if they knew the purchase qualified for HSA or FSA reimbursement. That is the more commercially relevant figure.
It describes a population of potential buyers who are not cash-constrained in the usual sense. They hold pre-tax health accounts. They simply do not know the category qualifies.
