Xtra Muse Undercuts DJI Osmo Pocket 3 by $49 at Amazon, Hitting Its Lowest Price on Record

The Xtra Muse compact vlogging camera has dropped to $329 at Amazon — its lowest price on record and $49 below where the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 currently sits after a rare sale — putting a spotlight on a product that a Verge reporter described as appearing to be "the same product in almost every palpable way" as DJI's pocket camera. DJI has declined to comment on any involvement with Xtra, leaving the brand's relationship to the market leader unexplained but its pricing strategy unmistakable.

The Pricing Gap That Matters

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has spent most of the year at $500 and is currently down to $378 at multiple retailers — already a meaningful discount, but still $49 more than the Muse. The Xtra Muse launched at roughly $429 by recent pricing history, sold for $380 as recently as last month, and has now shed another $51 to reach $329. For buyers comparing the two products side by side, the Muse's discount trajectory makes the case on pure price alone.

The commercial question hanging over Xtra is straightforward: if the hardware is nearly identical, the brand that wins on price and software compatibility wins the market. That is where the Muse spent much of its early life at a disadvantage.

A Firmware Fix That Closed the Key Gap

At launch, the Xtra Muse could not connect to Bluetooth microphones — a material limitation that ruled out DJI's own wireless mic lineup, including the Mic 2, Mic Mini, and Mic 3. For content creators who already own DJI audio gear, that incompatibility was reason enough to pay up for the Osmo Pocket 3.

A February firmware update reversed that. The Muse now supports wireless connection to the DJI Mic 2, Mic Mini, and Mic 3, among other microphones. The firmware change removed the single most defensible reason to choose the pricier alternative, and the price cut follows that opening.

The Muse is not the only discounted item in circulation this week. Resident Evil Requiem is available on Steam for $55.99 during the platform's summer sale, with Newegg offering it for $44.99 using the code 5DSUMMER — a saving of more than 30 percent off the original price.

Best Buy is holding the Apple iPad Air with the M3 chip at $499 for the 128GB Wi-Fi and 5G model, undercutting Amazon and Walmart, which are either out of stock or selling refurbished units at $450 and above. The M3 Air starts at $499 versus $749 for the current M4 model. Apple's black Magic Mouse, which last traded at $85 in September before climbing to $95 or higher, is back at $79.99 at Amazon — its lowest recorded price. The mouse charges via USB-C but requires flipping over to reach the port.

The Muse deal's duration is unspecified. Amazon sale prices at this depth rarely hold for long once they surface widely.
