Sheriff's department aware of possible new ransom note in Nancy Guthrie case

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI's joint task force investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie have been made aware of a potential new ransom note. In a Tuesday post on X, PCSD stated that investigators are also examining social media comments regarding the note to determine its credibility.

A law enforcement source close to the case told Fox News that no new notes are currently being treated as credible. The announcement comes as the investigation continues into the early morning abduction of Guthrie from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Guthrie, the mother of Savannah Guthrie, was taken from her residence in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood shortly before 10 p.m. local time on Jan. 31, following a drop-off by a relative. She has not been seen since.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed in the days following the disappearance that Guthrie was taken, telling reporters at a news briefing that she did not leave on her own. Authorities have struggled to identify a suspect or person of interest, despite a masked man appearing on Guthrie's Ring doorbell camera. In late July, officials released two previously withheld ransom notes related to the kidnapping.

The first note, sent on Feb. 2, claimed Guthrie was unharmed and demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency for her release. A second note, sent on Feb. 6, stated that Guthrie had died shortly after being kidnapped. Authorities noted that both notes were written in a unique style and asked the public to share information with PCSD and the FBI if they recognize the patterns.
