House Republicans are entering the final two weeks of the 2026 midterms with a $1 million fundraising advantage over House Democrats, a reversal of the financial dynamics seen in recent cycles. Axios reports that the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has raised $250 million compared to $249 million for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). This narrow lead contrasts sharply with 2024, when Democrats outraised Republicans by $84 million, and 2022, when the gap was $74 million in favor of Democrats.
Richard Hudson, chair of the NRCC, told Axios that the committee spent this cycle building a war chest to amplify Republican wins and hold Democrats accountable for their failures. The NRCC’s cash position stands at $61 million as it enters October, while the DCCC holds $55.7 million. In the third quarter of 2026, the NRCC raised $50 million, slightly behind the DCCC’s $50.5 million. However, the NRCC’s September total of $28.5 million, which included a $14 million transfer from the Republican National Committee, outpaced the DCCC’s September raise of $26.3 million.
Speaker Mike Johnson has also contributed to the party's financial strength, raising more than $220 million for House Republicans since taking office in October 2023. This fundraising effort addresses early concerns about whether Johnson could fill the void left by former Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
