Mechanism has released the Basecase, a $49 snap-on shell for the Nintendo Switch 2 that integrates with the company's existing modular mount lineup. The accessory debuted after a series of delays, arriving at a time when many competitors have reduced the frequency of new Switch 2 case releases.
The Basecase protects the console and improves Joy-Con comfort. It features 3D-printed grips and a rear plate that provides unofficial compatibility with Lego blocks and minifigs. Unlike previous options, this shell maintains full access to the Switch 2's kickstand and all peripheral ports.
Mechanism’s modular system previously allowed users to mount the console using the $19 Basegrip. That grip attaches to walls, gaming pillows, or monitor arms. The new Basecase extends this capability by adding a protective layer that supports the same range of mounting configurations. The product offers a distinct advantage over standard cases by combining physical protection with enhanced modularity for various setups.
