Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has addressed an on-field confrontation between his coaching staff and Philadelphia Eagles fans following a 24-20 victory on Sunday. Speaking at a news conference, McVay confirmed that he discussed the incident with his team, stating, "Yep, we talked about it. We'll be better in those situations." A Rams spokesperson relayed these comments to OutKick on Monday after video of the exchange circulated on social media.
The incident occurred at Lincoln Financial Field just after Los Angeles running back Kyren Williams scored a go-ahead touchdown with 1:10 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Rams trailed 20-10 before completing the comeback. Video footage showed members of the Rams coaching staff celebrating inside their booth while exchanging words and gestures with Eagles fans on the opposite side of the glass. At least one staff member appeared to give fans the middle finger, and objects, including what appeared to be drinks, were thrown toward the booth.
The staff member making the gesture appears to be Brian Allen, the Rams assistant offensive line coach, although the team has not confirmed that identification. Allen is in his first season in this role after serving as a consultant for the Rams in 2025. During his time as a center for Los Angeles, Allen played in 50 regular-season games and started 32 of them. He also started every playoff game during the franchise's Super Bowl LVI title run after the 2021 season.
OutKick asked the Rams to identify all coaches involved and whether any disciplinary action had been taken. The team's response did not provide either detail. McVay acknowledged that emotions can run hot for coaches working from the booth, noting he experienced similar feelings earlier in his career with Washington. "You get excited and emotional," McVay said. "We'll learn from that. We'll be better." He emphasized that while fans are engaged, the staff must represent the class and calm steadiness expected of them while remaining emotionally invested in the game.
McVay's directive appears to focus on preventing celebrations from turning into confrontations. While the Rams coach asked for restraint from his staff, the footage also shows Eagles fans throwing objects toward the booth. OutKick contacted both the NFL and the Philadelphia Eagles for comment regarding whether the league is reviewing the conduct or if the fans involved were identified or disciplined. Neither organization had responded as of publication.
