Kai Trump, the 19-year-old eldest grandchild of President Donald Trump, has undergone a second wrist surgery to repair an injury sustained during her first collegiate golf tournament. The University of Miami Women's Golf team member posted an update on Instagram on Wednesday, confirming the procedure was successful and sharing a selfie from her hospital bed showing her left arm in a cast and sling.

In a statement accompanying the post, Trump explained that while she initially hoped to avoid surgery, discussions with her family, coaches, and athletic training staff led to the decision to prioritize her long-term health and future in golf. She described the situation as an unexpected turn in her journey, stating she is choosing to embrace it with patience and determination. The athlete noted that recovery will take time, but she expressed gratitude for the support of her team, coaches, and family, describing them as people who lift her up and encourage her.

Trump received treatment at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. She specifically thanked Dr. Carlson and the HSS team for their care. "For now, it's all about healing, and trusting the process," she wrote, adding that she looks forward to returning to her team and doing what she loves. She concluded her statement with a cheer for the Canes.

This is not Trump's first medical intervention for wrist issues. In July, during an appearance on Fox & Friends, she disclosed that she had undergone wrist surgery six months prior. At that time, she also expressed nervousness about starting her freshman year and Division 1 golf career at the University of Miami. "I'm a little nervous, I'm not gonna lie, but I'm ready for the next chapter," she told the show. She noted that she is only an hour and a half away from her siblings.

Regarding the origin of her competitive drive, Trump cited both her mother, Vanessa Trump, and President Trump as significant influences, noting that while her mother is competitive, the President is particularly so. Fox News Digital's Taylor Penley contributed to this report.
