Jerry Jones slammed his hand on the table in his suite during the Dallas Cowboys' 24-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a result he described as very disappointing. The 83-year-old owner watched his team fall to a squad that had previously been winless and was starting an undrafted rookie quarterback. Jones told reporters that the Buccaneers took the game to the Cowboys inside, where the real damage was done, and that the loss was surprising to him. He stated that the team missed a great opportunity to build something but acknowledged that the Buccaneers won in most all phases. The Cowboys dropped to a 2-3 record with the defeat, a position Jones said he had not expected. He emphasized that this was not a time to fold the tents, noting that neither the Cowboys' record nor the Buccaneers' 0-4 start was anticipated. The game featured a late interception by Dak Prescott that thwarted a potential comeback. Prescott's second interception of the game occurred while the Cowboys were attempting to mount a rally late in the fourth quarter. Star wide receiver George Pickens slammed his helmet into the turf after the turnover. The Cowboys had been down 24-10 with about eight and a half minutes remaining when they executed a 10-play, 99-yard drive in just over three minutes. That drive ended with Pickens making a leaping grab in the end zone to narrow the deficit to 24-16. Dallas went for a two-point conversion but did not convert. The defense then forced Tampa Bay into a three-and-out, giving the offense a chance to tie the game. Prescott drove the team into Buccaneers territory, reaching the 24-yard line with 1:30 left. The comeback attempt ended when Prescott's pass went through tight end Jake Ferguson's hands and off his helmet into the air. Buccaneers linebacker Alex Anzalone caught the ball before it hit the turf at AT&T Stadium. Although the Cowboys still had all three timeouts, Bucs running back Bucky Irving ran for a game-sealing first down two plays later. Irving finished with 165 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, along with two receptions for 10 yards and another score. Tampa Bay started Jalon Daniels, an undrafted rookie making his second career start. The Cowboys will face the Green Bay Packers next Sunday night in another Primetime matchup.
