Erin Foster, the creator of the Netflix series "Nobody Wants This," publicly disagreed with the show's star, Adam Brody, following his accusation that Israel is committing "genocide." Foster stated on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast that while she respects Brody, she holds a different opinion and emphasized that it is acceptable for them to disagree. She compared their working environment to a dinner table where debate and differing views are common, noting that as the creator, she wants Jewish fans to know she sees and hears them. The full episode featuring Foster's comments is scheduled to air on October 27.

Brody made his remarks during a September interview with GQ, where he said, "Put me down as thinking it's a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine." He described the situation as awful and expressed hope that a future administration could correct policies contributing to the conflict. In that same interview, Brody suggested that political activism in Hollywood had decreased since the first election of Donald Trump, which he said woke many people up to civic engagement. He noted that he does not frequently discuss political issues in interviews.

Foster described her series as a love letter to Judaism, citing her personal experience and the lack of positive representation of Jewish people in media as her primary motivations for creating the show. She stated that while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, her intention behind the project was to provide that positive portrayal. Fox News Digital has reached out to Brody's team for comment regarding the dispute.

Mor Greenberg, founder of MorMedia Group, a communications firm working with Jewish nonprofits and pro-Israel organizations, responded to the controversy in a statement to Fox News Digital. Greenberg expressed disappointment that a mainstream television show celebrating Jewish identity features a leading actor whose comments are upsetting to many in the community. He argued that while Brody is entitled to his political views, playing a rabbi on television does not make him a spokesperson for the Jewish community. Greenberg praised Foster for standing behind the Jewish story she created, stating that her response matters because Jewish identity is larger than Hollywood politics.
