Duke Energy board appoints former Insight CEO Joyce Mullen

Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) has appointed Joyce Mullen to its board of directors, with the role becoming effective on Sept. 28. The company announced the addition in a release dated Sept. 25, 2026, identifying Mullen as a former president and chief executive officer of Insight Enterprises.

Mullen will serve on two specific committees: the Audit Committee and the Operations and Nuclear Oversight Committee. She retired from her role as president and CEO of Insight Enterprises in April 2026 but continues to advise that company's leadership as executive vice president of strategic development.

Harry Sideris, president and chief executive officer of Duke Energy, stated that Mullen's experience as a leader will help the company accelerate its approach to shaping the future of energy. Sideris noted that Duke Energy serves customers in a growing operating territory and expressed anticipation for working with Mullen to advance the company's strategy amid what he described as unprecedented growth, technological innovation, and transformation across the industry.

Ted Craver, the independent chair of the Duke Energy Board of Directors, described Mullen as a proven leader during periods of rapid change and volatility. Craver said her perspective at the intersection of AI, digital innovation, and customer-focused execution would strengthen the board's diverse perspectives. He added that her background is intended to help Duke Energy continue delivering long-term value for its customers, employees, communities, and shareholders.

Mullen's executive career includes a tenure at Insight Enterprises where she served as president of North America before becoming CEO. During her time as CEO, Insight Enterprises set an ambition to become a leading AI-first solutions integrator by combining hardware, software, and services to help organizations maximize business value and accelerate digital evolution. While serving as president of North America, Mullen navigated a global pandemic while driving double-digit sales growth.

Before joining Insight, Mullen spent 21 years at Dell Technologies in numerous executive positions. Her roles at Dell included leading organizations responsible for sales, operations, supply chain, partner strategy, services delivery, and logistics. Prior to her time at Dell, she held various leadership roles at Cummins Engine Company.

Mullen currently serves on the board of directors of The Toro Company. She earned her master of business administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University.
