Two years after rival platforms threatened its relevance, X has carved out a position no competitor has replicated: the real-time channel where frontier AI announcements, arguments, and high-profile exits reach the public before the rest of the information ecosystem catches up.
The clearest recent measure of that position came on Tuesday, when Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon posted his resignation on the platform alongside a thread detailing safety concerns, drawing more than 100 million views.
A second Anthropic employee then wrote that he believes there is a greater than 10 percent chance artificial intelligence could kill all humans within the decade.
What the concentration reflects The dynamic predates Musk. Researchers and technology figures were already networked on the platform before his acquisition closed, which landed one month before OpenAI released ChatGPT.
