Union contracts are filling the AI regulation gap that Congress has left open

Labor contracts have quietly become the most enforceable AI guardrail in the American workplace, with Congress producing little beyond roundtables.

The NewsGuild-CWA now holds between 85 and 90 agreements with explicit AI provisions.

At ZeniMax, the video game studio owned by Microsoft (MSFT), a union contract now bars management from deploying new AI tools without first notifying and negotiating with workers.
