SoundCloud launches zero-commission music sales for artists

A zero-commission music storefront is now live in beta on SoundCloud, giving artists a way to sell directly from their profiles without routing fans to Bandcamp or Beatport. Every dollar of each sale goes to the artist.

The numbers that frame the competitive position are specific. Bandcamp retains between 10 and 15 percent of each transaction.

Artists on Beatport receive roughly 50 to 65 percent of their sale price, with the platform keeping the remainder.

SoundCloud's beta offers a different structure: an artist who already hosts music on the platform can now sell downloads from the same page and keep everything. For listeners, the feature removes a redirect.
