Finebaum made these remarks following USC's defeat by Oregon in Los Angeles, a game that highlighted the continued struggles of the Trojans' defense despite significant offseason investments.
The criticism comes as hot seat rumors swirl around Riley, who is in his fifth year at the helm. Finebaum compared Riley's current record to that of former head coach Clay Helton, who was fired in 2021.
Finebaum noted that while it cost approximately $10 million to terminate Helton's contract, it would cost roughly $70 million to buy out Riley.
