Nippon Seiki to buy Denso's head-up display business in five-country deal

Head-up display consolidation is in focus after Nippon Seiki agreed to acquire Denso's HUD unit, taking on production equipment and intellectual property across operations in Japan, China, Spain, the United States and Mexico.

Assets tied to the business were valued at Y1.16bn ($7.2m) as of 31 March 2026, though the purchase price remains confidential under an agreement between the two companies.

The next gate is Japan Fair Trade Commission clearance, with closing set for 26 February 2027.

What transfers in the deal Denso's HUD unit develops and sells displays that project driving data onto a vehicle's windscreen, keeping speed, navigation, fuel levels and traffic signage within the driver's line of sight.
