A month after DSA-backed candidates defeated Democratic incumbents in primary elections, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sat for a Tuesday Rolling Stone interview and called the party "run by well-paid consultants and big money interests." The remarks came as a direct counter to former Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison, who had posted on X challenging socialist candidates to stop using party resources they openly opposed.
Fox News Digital reached out to the DNC for comment. Harrison's challenge Harrison's X post landed after the DSA primary results.
"Political parties aren't perfect, but they're built by millions of people who knock doors, make calls, organize meetings, and fight for the values they believe in," he wrote.
His argument: candidates who oppose the Democratic Party have no legitimate claim on its volunteer networks or its infrastructure. He suggested Harrison's disclaimer of "no ill will or animosity" was the tell.
