Dorm outfitting costs hit $800 for one reader's daughter and crossed $900 for a CPA's son heading to Boston College, based on reader-submitted figures published Tuesday in Joe Kinsey's Screencaps column at OutKick.
The higher figure came after the CPA's wife added $250 in cold-weather clothing to a $700 base list, despite the family living in Hawaii. Move-in day for the Boston College student is roughly a week out.
The line-item breakdown The $700 base list breaks into five categories: bedding at $187, bath and gym supplies at $231, laundry at $104, miscellaneous supplies at $166, and clothing at $253.
A padded headboard was not included. Kevin's $800 figure for his daughter covered a padded headboard, sheets, and a comforter.
