Plans to install washing facilities for Muslim travelers at Dallas Love Field Airport have been dropped, after Texas Governor Greg Abbott threatened to withhold state funding from the airport.
The cancellation came in direct response to that threat. Abbott tied the prospect of a state funding cut to the airport's decision on the facilities. The threat was the operative event, not an executed budget action.
The governor signaled he would pull state money, the airport reversed course, and no cut needed to take place.
Abbott's move changed Love Field's answer on a question of religious accommodation, through funding pressure alone.
