The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for the US fell 0.2% in June 2026, settling at 99.1 (2016=100) and partially reversing gains posted over the prior two months. May had contributed a 0.1% increase to that run.
Across the full first half of 2026, the LEI is down 0.3%, a pace The Conference Board characterizes as a much smaller rate of decline than comparable prior periods, according to the organization's July 20 release from New York.
The June print June's 0.2% decline more than erases May's 0.1% gain. The index arrived at 99.1, just below the century mark on the 2016 base, after two consecutive months of improvement.
The Conference Board's own framing, "partially reversed," signals the underlying run is interrupted rather than fully unwound.
