Cognition's chief executive is pushing back on a report that SpaceX held talks to acquire the AI coding startup.
SpaceX has been moving through the AI coding sector, most recently acquiring Cursor as it works to keep pace with OpenAI and Anthropic in enterprise AI.
The reported SpaceX interest in Cognition would have added a second AI coding company to that portfolio. Cognition's CEO said the reported acquisition discussions did not take place.
Cursor, now under SpaceX ownership, competes in the same AI-assisted development space as Cognition. The Cursor deal stands as SpaceX's last confirmed move in AI coding.
