The catastrophic May 28, 2026, loss of Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket and most of its Cape Canaveral launch pad now has a confirmed origin point.
Chief executive Dave Limp said this week that the failure originated at the main oxygen valve on one of the seven BE-4 engines powering the vehicle's first stage, a finding verified through hardware recovery and physical inspections.
The investigation is continuing, and no return-to-flight timeline has been announced.
What the hardware confirmed New Glenn was destroyed during a hot-fire test on the evening of May 28 at Cape Canaveral, Florida, taking most of the surrounding launch pad infrastructure with it.
