Aaron Donald returns to the Rams on a $20 million deal, and his wife made the call

A one-year, $20 million deal brings Aaron Donald out of a two-year retirement and back to the Los Angeles Rams for the 2026 season, a decision Donald told reporters hinged almost entirely on whether his wife Erica was on board.

The Rams had already moved in the offseason before Donald committed. Myles Garrett, acquired from the Cleveland Browns in a trade, was in place.

Donald fills out a defense that already has Garrett, though his own decision was genuinely undecided until roughly two weeks before it became public.

Donald described it as "on and off for a while." He spoke to head coach Sean McVay almost every day through that stretch, giving McVay updates on where he stood while McVay fielded daily questions at training camp about the return.
